Pancreatitis, which can be severe and life-threatening. If you have a history of pancreatitis, gallstones, alcoholism, or high triglyceride levels, inform your healthcare provider before taking AJADUO. Stop taking the medication and call your doctor immediately if you experience severe and persistent abdominal pain that radiates to your back, with or without vomiting.
Ketoacidosis, a serious condition that requires immediate hospital treatment. Even if your blood sugar is less than 250 mg/dL, ketoacidosis can occur in people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who take AJADUO. Contact your healthcare provider right away or go to the nearest emergency room if you experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, fatigue, or difficulty breathing. If possible, check your urine for ketones.
Dehydration, which can make you feel dizzy, faint, lightheaded, or weak, especially when you stand up. If you take medication to lower your blood pressure or are on a low-salt diet, have kidney problems, or are over 65 years of age, you may be at higher risk of dehydration. Talk to your healthcare provider about how much fluid you should drink daily, especially if you are ill or unable to eat or drink normally.
Serious urinary tract infections that may require hospitalization. Symptoms include a burning sensation when you urinate, frequent urination, pain in your lower abdomen or pelvis, or blood in your urine. You may also experience fever, back pain, nausea, or vomiting.
Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), which can be caused by taking AJADUO with other medications that lower blood sugar levels, such as sulfonylureas or insulin. Signs of hypoglycemia include headache, drowsiness, weakness, confusion, irritability, hunger, fast heartbeat, sweating, dizziness, shaking, or feeling jittery.
Necrotizing fasciitis, a rare but serious bacterial infection that affects the tissue under the skin around the genitals and anus. Seek medical attention immediately if you experience a fever, weakness, or discomfort and have pain, tenderness, swelling, or redness in this area.
Vaginal yeast infection, characterized by vaginal odor, white or yellowish vaginal discharge (may be lumpy or similar to cottage cheese), and vaginal itching.
Yeast infection of the penis, which can cause swelling that makes it difficult to pull back the foreskin. Symptoms include redness, itching, or swelling of the penis, rash, foul-smelling discharge, and pain in the skin around the penis.
Allergic reactions, which can be severe and life-threatening. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to AJADUO include swelling of the face, lips, tongue, throat, or other areas of the skin, difficulty swallowing or breathing, raised red areas on the skin (hives), skin rash, itching, flaking, or peeling. Stop taking AJADUO and call your healthcare provider or go to the emergency room if you experience any of these symptoms.
Joint pain, which can be severe, in some people taking DPP-4 inhibitors, a medication in AJADUO. Contact your healthcare provider if you experience severe joint pain.
