Imatib ( imatinib 100 mg tab )

Imatib, which contains 100mg of imatinib, is a medication that functions as a kinase inhibitor and is prescribed for various conditions, including:

• Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) with Philadelphia chromosome-positive (Ph+) in the chronic phase for newly diagnosed adult and pediatric patients, as well as patients in the accelerated or blast crisis phase or chronic phase after interferon-alpha treatment failure.
• Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) with Ph+ for relapsed or refractory adult patients, and newly diagnosed pediatric patients in combination with chemotherapy.
• Myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases (MDS/MPD) associated with platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) gene rearrangements in adult patients, as confirmed by an FDA-approved test.
• Aggressive systemic mastocytosis (ASM) without the D816V c-KIT mutation, as determined by an FDA-approved test, or with unknown c-KIT mutational status, in adult patients.
• Hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and/or chronic eosinophilic leukemia (CEL) in adult patients with FIP1L1-PDGFRα fusion kinase, as well as in those with unknown or negative FIP1L1-PDGFRα fusion kinase status.
• Unresectable, recurrent, and/or metastatic dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP) in adult patients.
• Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) that cannot be surgically removed and/or have spread to other parts of the body in patients with KIT (CD117)-positive tumors.
• Adult patients who have had their KIT (CD117)-positive GIST completely removed after surgery.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

The recommended doses for Imatinib based on the specific conditions are as follows:

Adults with Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph+ CML) in the chronic phase (CP): 400 mg/day

Adults with Ph+ CML in accelerated phase (AP) or blast crisis (BC): 600 mg/day

Pediatric patients with Ph+ CML in the chronic phase: 340 mg/m2 /day
Adults with relapsed or refractory Ph+ acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL): 600 mg/day
Pediatric patients with newly diagnosed Ph+ ALL: 340 mg/m2 /day
Adults with myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative diseases (MDS/MPD): 400 mg/day
Adults with aggressive systemic mastocytosis (ASM): either 100 mg/day or 400 mg/day
Adults with hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and/or chronic eosinophilic leukemia (CEL): either 100 mg/day or 400 mg/day
Adults with unresectable, recurrent, and/or metastatic dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans (DFSP): 800 mg/day
Adults with metastatic and/or unresectable gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST): 400 mg/day
Adjuvant treatment of adults with GIST: 400 mg/day
Patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment: 400 mg/day
Patients with severe hepatic impairment: 300 mg/day

All doses of Imatinib should be taken with a meal and a large glass of water. Doses of 400 mg or 600 mg should be taken once daily, while 800 mg should be taken as 400 mg twice a day. Patients who have difficulty swallowing can dissolve Imatinib in water or apple juice. If a daily dose of 800 mg or more is required, the 400 mg tablet should be used to reduce exposure to iron.
